Why Citation Style Matters
Academic citation is not just about avoiding plagiarism โ it is a standardised communication system that tells readers where to find your sources, signals credibility, and allows other researchers to verify your work. Different academic disciplines have developed their own citation conventions to reflect what information matters most in their field. Using the wrong style is an academic error that can affect your grades and, at the professional level, your publication prospects.
